Meet the squad leaders
Hi :D! I'm Amicie, a 16 year old Senior at the Lycée Français de San Francisco. My hobbies include drawing, writing & spending time with my two cats, Kashi and Shiro. I also love video games: Cytus 2, Tetris, and Undertale are some of my favorites!
Message To Campers:
If it's your first time as a camper here, don't be nervous- The GMG community is unbelievably kind & welcoming!
Hi! My name is AoYi Chen and I also go by Erica. I am a rising senior at the University of Utah majoring in Games and a minor in Animation. I mainly work as a 2D/3D artist, but I have also worked with sounds, production, music, coding… yeah pretty much everything and I enjoyed them all (ok except for rigging)! I grew up watching my parents playing video games and our family time was playing all kinds of games together. Being as much of a gamer as my parents are, they named their kid, me, after their favorite game. Yes, they fell in love playing that game together. If you are wondering, it’s Age of Empires (AOE Aoyi get it?). After all, games are a big part of my life, and I am super excited to see all the awesome games we will make this summer!
My favorite games are Portal 2, Hades, and Superliminal. Other than games I also love knitting, crocheting, painting, and taking care of my plants.
Message To Campers:
I am looking forward to meeting you all and let’s make some super awesome games!!!:D
Hi I’m Athena! I’m an indie game music composer and sound designer based in California. I love to make whimsical, cutesy games that center sound in mechanical ways, and I truly believe that games have immense power to create positive social impact!
Message To Campers:
When I was a kid I loved video game music so much I would often put my controller down mid-game and let my character stand still just so I could listen to the background song over and over! I dreamed of being a game developer and music composer when I was very young!
It’s so wonderful that you love video games too and want to learn how to make them! I’m beyond excited to meet you and help you create awesome games. Camp is going to be so much fun!
Hey there! My name is Avah and I'm a University of Washington student with an interest in becoming a video game developer as my main focus in my Computer Science degree. Growing up, I've always been interested in video games, and found myself modifying and creating games. Due to this, it made sense for me to go into my major and focus on real game developing.
Some of my favorite games include: Destiny 2, Team Fortress 2, Minecraft, Legend of Zelda's Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword, Red Dead Redemption (1 and 2), Apex Legends and Wizard 101.
My hobbies are cosplaying, rowing, gaming, transformation makeup and makeup in general and collecting: Funko pops and Pokémon cards.
I’m fluent in English, but I also speak Farsi and German.
Message To Campers:
I'm excited to meet you all and I can't wait to see what you all will create!~ :D
Hey Campers, I'll be your tech support this summer! With our combined powers, we can solve any issues and create the game you envision! I have worked in game development for over 4 years, with experience in Unreal, Unity, and Construct 3. If there is ever anything you cant solve alone, I'll be there to help you out :)!
Hi all! I'm Elissa, a game designer and illustrator finishing my degree at Pratt Institute in New York. I finished my bachelor's at McGill University in an entirely different field, but I wanted to pivot my career path toward something I really enjoy! Growing up, I liked playing games casually but never realized I could be the one making these games. As I got older, after meeting new friends I'd play games with weekly, I realized how much I enjoyed games and wanted them to be a part of my life! I love cozy games like Animal Crossing: New Horizons or playing fun mobile gacha games like Cookie Run: Kingdom!
In my free time, I love making Vocaloid covers, coming up with new sticker merch designs, or drinking some fruit tea boba with friends!
Message To Campers:
I hope you're ready for an amazing summer! I'm so excited to meet you all and hear all your great ideas! When I was your age, I never heard knew about fun summer programs where you could learn to build your own game, so I can't wait to work on your projects with you guys!
Cesca (she/they) is an award winning video game developer and educator specializing in emotion-first design and collaborative multiplayer experiences. Their work combines programming, electronics, and traditional art formats to create playful experiences. She holds an MFA in Game Design from New York University and presently teaches at Columbia College Chicago, University of Nebraska Lincoln, and Lillstreet Art Center. Her favorite games are Shadow of the Colossus, Pokemon, and Ace Attorney!
Message To Campers:
Hello campers! I'm Cesca, a game designer who also loves making 3D art and programming. I started working on games many years ago because I wanted to tell beautiful stories and create magical worlds. Making games is wonderful because there are so many different roles you can take on! You can write stories, program, design levels, make art, create music, or organize teams! I can't wait to see what types of wonderful games you make with your teams and what stories you will tell! :D
I'm a computer science student with a passion for video game design! I've honed my skills in programming and art throughout the years, and I am currently experimenting with game creation. I believe video games can be another artistic way to express creativity in many ways, and I want to do these with my own games as well!
Message To Campers:
I'm thrilled to be your counselor this summer! As a woman who is passionate in video games ever since I was a kid, it's very exciting to see more girls interested in this field. My journey in creating games has only started as I continue my studies in computers, but it has been fun so far and I hope my experience can be a great guide for you. And now, I'm looking forward to see what kinds of games you will create!
I've loved video games ever since I was a little girl; always staying up late playing anything I could. My husband and I created our own indie studio, Kindred Games, and I'm lucky enough to help run and manage this studio along with creating a huge indie game. We’ve both immersed ourselves into the indie world and have been loving every second. I’m excited to be part of GMG again this year and share my experiences and knowledge with young minds.
Message To Campers:
I'm excited to see all of the creativity and what everyone makes. It's an amazing feeling making a game and I can't wait to see you all grow in your journey of making games!
Juliette is currently a junior studying game design and programming. She originally wanted to be a music teacher, but after several years studying as a music theory major, she realized her true passions were in video games. She currently writes her own music for games, but sometimes makes pixel art for her friends. She's a Nintendo girl, but loves all cute and wholesome games like Animal Crossing, A Little to the Left, and Cooking Mama.
Message To Campers:
I'm super super super excited to meet y'all!! My favorite memories as a child were playing games with my friends on the weekends. I was in band growing up, and my favorite part of summer band camps were also playing games! I look forward to joining you during camp and getting to have fun with everyone!
Hello! My name is Kaylah. I'm an artist and a recent college graduate. I love making art and playing video games. I currently trying to improve my animation skills in both 2D and 3D. I am currently replaying Batman: Arkham Knight (this is my 8th time playing it again).
Message To Campers:

I am a queer, Latine game and narrative designer that is passionate about finding new and delightful ways to tell stories. I have the heart of an artist and the mind of a scientist, and so I'm always intrigued by the intersection of science and society.
Message To Campers:
I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you and help in your game dev journey! I'm sure we'll have a blast :-)
It's Bond. Nicolette Bond. (Moving past the James Bond reference, haha.) Hello! I am a recent graduate from Irvine Valley College. Needing financially to start at community college, I was afraid of falling behind my peers, but I have zero regrets about my time there. I've earned a Game Design certificate and Creative Writing associates degree. Now, I'm transferring to UCLA to study writing or USC to study film and games! I created a game development club at my college to meet video game obsessed students like me. From there, I've been able to make my own games and help run the Student Game Developers' Alliance. Game development organizations helped me realize my career goals and create paths towards them, and I hope to use this experience to open doors for these girls. The gender gap in the game industry has narrowed, especially after many streamers, gamers, and developers have spoken out about discrimination. But, this industry was originally created for boys. (Video game products were first sold in boys' toy aisles through gendered marketing.) People from all backgrounds need to be making games to draw in a more diverse player base. I'm excited to help GMG disprove gaming stereotypes!
Message To Campers:
Hey girls! I'm excited to meet you! I wanted to tell you a story before I do. A few years ago, I worked as a camp counselor at a different summer camp. My group was a bunch of super cool second grade girls, and there were two that loved Pokémon. They brought their games to camp to play. One day, a group of third grade boys were making fun of them for liking Pokémon because it was a "boy thing". So, I put together binders of many different Pokémon cards for them to keep and let them know that "girls can be Pokémon League champions too". During camp, you'll be able to make friends with other girls who like games! When you see me, tell me all about the games you like. I'd love to hear!
Hello! I'm Laura, a student in the College of Design at NC State University. My major is in Art & Design with a concentration in game design. I love designing immersive game experiences with meaningful narratives.
Growing up, I didn't know that "game design" was a thing that people did. I was in college when my professors finally introduced me to this possibility. Never before had I been introduced to something that merged my desire for both systematic logic and artistic expression in one experience. Now I hope to share what I've learned so others can experience this, too.
Outside of my major, I also am an officer for a few clubs including ACM SIGGRAPH and the Autistic and Neurodivergent Student Alliance. Recently, I finished my minor in Arts Entrepreneurship.
As for outside of school, I love reading, baking, F1, trash reality TV, and of course playing video games.

I am thrilled to meet you and help your ideas come to life!

Then, when I got to college and discovered programming I realized I wanted to find a space to channel both of those passions which is why I'm so excited to spend the summer with you and help make your vision possible.
Michael started making games in 2006 using RPG Maker and has been obsessed with creating his own worlds ever since. He started out as an artist and designer but fell in love with visual scripting and programming when he discovered Unreal Engine 4. He graduated as valedictorian in 2017 from Full Sail University with a bachelor's degree in game art and animation.
He now runs Kindred Games, a small indie studio making a casual, open world RPG. He's married and has two kids and loves introducing game development to passionate, young creatives.
His favorite games are The Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past, Far Cry 3, Dead Cells, Hollow Knight and about a kajillion more.

Mina Hu is an Korean/Chinese-American university student looking to share her love for the arts through multiple forms of expression with an emphasis in video games. She is especially passionate about exploring first and second generation immigrant experiences as well as LGBTQ+ issues. Her current aspirations include levelling up in drawing to one day break into concept art and making connections to start more conversations about DEI within the game development industry.
When she's not drawing or working on a project with her indie game dev team, Mina is gushing over roguelikes, turn-based strategy, MMORPGs, visual novels, and thorough analysis of all of the above. When those are off the table, she likes to build computers, writing for video essays, fashion, and dance.
Some favorite games include: Darkest Dungeon I & II, Final Fantasy XIV, Monster Hunter series. Honorary mention: Any game with interesting flavor text!
Message To Campers:
Hi everyone!
My name's Mina! I'm so, so excited to meet you guys. I've been super passionate about game dev since I was 10 years old or so, and it's streamlined into concept art, production, and a bit of narrative design! I want you to know that you can talk to me and ask about anything, especially if it has to do with games. I want our group to be 1. cool (we're already doing a pretty good job!) and 2. a space for everyone to get to know each other and grow as game developers. :)
See you soon!
Mina <3

Paris is a recent graduate of UVU and a freelance animator who loves to hike! She loves to draw her inspiration from nature, and when not out hiking, will often be found drawing and creating models for future games or films. Paris started out only on an artistic track but found a passion for code and tech in the last few years she hopes to be able to inspire others who might not think tech is for them. She helped other game developers at her university as a student tutor, and when not working with others on their projects or her own, can often be found making silly voices in her room while playing Dungeons and Dragons with friends. Her favorite games are Monster Hunter, Rimworld, and TF2.
